Coming to Injinoo
You can come to Injinoo by plane, boat or drive.
Plane
The easiest way to get to Injinoo is by plane. You can fly from Cairns straight to Injinoo Airport (located in neighbouring Bamaga) with Aero Tropics or you can fly with Qantas to Horn Island and come across by ferry boat via Thursday Island. The flight from Cairns is 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Boat
The boat from Cairns arrives at Seisia, it takes 2 to 3 days.
Drive
The drive from Cairns can only occur during the dry season as the roads are flooded during the wet (the wet season varies but generally starts in December and ends in March). To access the communities by vehicle you must cross the Jardine River by ferry.
General Precautions
At the minimum you should carry basic gear such as water, spare tyres, fan belts and the like, recovery gear (shovel, axe, winch, rope) and tools.
There are a number natural hazards to be aware of in this area; crocodiles, venomous snakes, paper wasps and green-ants form a formidable arsenal and should be treated with respect. CONTACT THE HOSPITAL.
